It seems to me that the best way to get people to think about video and film in different ways than the narrow range shown in commercial media is to systematically expose them to alternatives while they're still young.
That's Not TV! is an attempt to use media literacy classes in Washington state High Schools (under an art in public places grant) to teach the history of video art. I think this is a great idea. It's just too bad it's limited to WA.
