I was recently introduced to AviSynth, a script-based video processing system. What most interests me about this in an immediate way is its ability to handle video as separate fields, instead of as "frames." Very exciting.

I will start a collection of scripts here once I have some time to get stuff together and see what it will do.

I know--video feedback already has most of the characteristics of a fractal. But Video Feedback Fractal Genesis explains how to make your feedback look like a fractal in really obvious ways. Interesting set-up that looks to be worth experimenting with in any case. I imagine it would work even better with a reversible mirror so the reflection in the glass would be bright enough to be readily visible.

The Sample images from this system look good.
