This is a video of a short collage film from 2000 called "Found Film" that was based on several rolls of camera tests shot by Tony Allegro that he was discarding.
Found Film was assembled directly on film, then transfered to video, and loop-printed and color corrected.
Year is a 20 minute long silent piece built around people's
birthdays, one per month for a year. A short piece about it is being published
in Leonardo, Vol. 38, No. 2 (April 2005).
Radio-Activity takes its title from the sounds used on the soundtrack: the noises were created from telemetry sent back to Earth by deep-space probes, primarily Cassini while on its way to Saturn (all these sounds are courtesy of Dr. Donald Gurnett, The University of Iowa). These sounds from space provided the impetus for the imagery. Radio-Activity is literally based around the activity of radios, radio-telescopes and broader spectrum beyond human sight.
