This week I was again struck by how much pixels have in common with the pointillist dots in paintings: small, atomic bits that together create an image through optical mixing: that is, the dots merge with distance to form an apparent continuity.
This page has a very cool suggestion that exploits the innate ability of CGI to ignore real-world physical laws: configurable camera optics that can "shoot" multiple angles of their "subjects." The possibilities for this concept are really interesting. CGI need not be such a slavish imitation of the cameras we're all familiar with.
This company claims it can use sound to "change your mind." I'm not sure I really believe this kind of claim, but this kind of thing's been around for a long time.
Opinions? I've never worked with this kind of sound/technology, but I know of people who do use it for their performance work. But what I want to know is, is this needlessly manipulative?
